ART APPRAISAL

With survival on everybody’s mind, the arts have virtually disappeared overnight. People are more worried about finding their next meal than they are attending a concert in the park or buying art.

METHODS

  • BASE GAME: MASTER PAINTER
    • Prerequisites - NONE
    • “Imagination is more important than knowledge.” - Albert Einstein
    • With Survival on everybody's mind, the arts have virtually ceased to exist. People are more worried about finding their next meal than they are about attending art showings or buying sculptures.
      • All Descendant of Da Vinci restrictions are placed into this alternate category.
      • Master the painting skill.
      • Paint 10 portraits of other sims NOT in the family (portraits, not still lifes - requires level 7 painting) of Brilliant quality or better.
      • Paint a portrait of each living family member.
      • Produce FIVE masterpieces during this sim's life.
      • Produce a self portrait (can be still life) of this sim that is one of the Masterpieces.
      • Paint enough paintings to be worth a cumulative total of $100,000 if you were to sell them.
        • You may not sell paintings unless Business is cleared.
      • Treat this as your sim's career. If Master Thief has NOT been cleared, they are allowed to quit attempting it and get a different career, however, they are not allowed to go back and attempt Master Painter alternate rules again.
    • Once an amazingly talented and prolific painter is produced from the family, a wave of culture is set off and the joy and pleasure of artistic endeavors returns to people’s minds. The Master Painter (Art Appraisal) restriction is lifted.
  • AMBITIONS: DESCENDANT OF DAVINCI
    • Prerequisites - Ambitions Expansion and Science
    • “Art is never finished, only abandoned.” Leonardo DaVinci
    • To lift this restriction:
      • One sim in the bloodline must achieve level 10 in painting, sculpting, and inventing skills.
        • Note: Unless you have lifted Architect, you will not be able to buy the sculptor's bench or the inventing station, as they are both more than $1000. However, should you happen to acquire them some other way, you may use them.
      • Paint one masterpiece, sculpt one masterpiece, and discover all of the inventions except the robot.
      • In addition, they must sculpt $50,000 worth of sculptures, paint $50,000 worth of paintings, and invent $50,000 worth of inventions.
        • If Business is cleared, you MAY sell any paintings, sculptures, and inventions you make. Keep notes on how much you have sold.
        • If Business is NOT cleared, keep track of the total value of inventions, paintings, and sculptures your sim has completed.
    • Only ONE sim at a time in the household may attempt to clear this restriction.
      • This IS your job. If you decide to get employment in another job, you must immediately cease attempting to lift Art Appraisal (DaVinci) with that sim.
      • Once your first sim who attempts this category dies, or you decide to have them quit to work on another category, without clearing this one, then you may choose another sim to start in on it.
      • The new sim must start over with painting, inventing and sculpting their own work, however.
        • While that sim may still use the painting easel they may no longer use the sculpting station or the inventing bench.
        • If you are in another job and decide to try to lift this restriction, you must first quit that other job before starting on the lift (unless it's self employment as a sculptor, painter, or inventor).
      • If desired, the sim attempting to lift Art Appraisal MAY obtain self employment as a sculptor, inventor, or painter.
  • UNIVERSITY LIFE: ART APPRAISER-APPRAISALS
  • INTO THE FUTURE
    • Prerequisites - Must be able to time travel. See INTO THE FUTURE for details.
    • "There's an app for that!"
    • Reach level 10 in the Mechanic branch of the Bot Arena career.
  • PRESTIGE: The Renaissance Master
    • See the method detailed at the end of the page.

  • With a single sim:
    • Lift Master Painter/Descendant of Da Vinci/Art Appraiser-Appraisals/Bot Arena-Mechanic Art Appraisal restriction.
    • Create paintings worth at least 100 000 simoleons. Keep a running total; if you have lifted Athletic, you may place these in personal inventory and hang them once the restriction is lifted, otherwise you must place them in family inventory (from where, as usual, they cannot be subsequently removed). If you have lifted Business, you may sell them.
    • If you have the sculptor's bench, you must produce a masterpiece of each type of sculpting. If you have lifted Business, you may sell them.
    • If you have the inventor's bench, you must discover every invention, create a time machine, and create a robot. If you have lifted Business, you may sell them.
