OCCULT SET UP


You must choose one of the following options listed below as a bloodline legacy requirement.
  • This counts an Advantage or Handicap and as such will count towards your Handicap total.
  • This will also affect your Young Adult, Adult, and Elder lifespan settings (as noted below).
    • Note: Unless you take one of the Breeding Handicaps, there are no restrictions on who you may marry or breed with.
    • All heirs must be same occult type as the founder unless you choose Somewhere Over the Rainbow. See Playing Supernatural Sims for expanded Occult specific rules.
    • The Birthday Cake will be used to age up long-lived sims according to which Occult Type you choose. Instructions for when to age up sims are indicated within each Occult Type.
  • Note: For those NOT playing with a Breeding handicap - You MAY turn your spouse to your Occult type.


Knights of Genetic Purity: (0 point handicap) HUMANS
  • Your founder and all heirs must be mundane humans.
  • Lifespans are set to 22 days Young Adult, 23 days Adult, 15 days Elder.
    • Note: If you are playing with just the base game, this is what you should choose. Depending on what expansions you have, some or all of the below options may also be available to you.
    • Aging up married in sims of a different occult type:
      • Genies - 22 Days to Elder
      • Vampires/Fairies - 65 days to Adult age up twice
      • Werewolves - 26 Days to Elder
      • All others are not impacted. If any of the above occult types are already past that age you must immediately age them up to elder or use one of the age reversal potions should you have one.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow: (-15 point advantage) ANYTHING GOES
  • Your bloodline may freely include any kind of occult.
  • Lifespans are set to 22 days Young Adult, 23 days Adult, 15 days Elder;
    • Note: If you at some point fail the bloodline requirements for your chosen category, you automatically fall into “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” advantage, losing your initial handicap/advantage as well as any other handicaps tied to it. See Playing Supernatural Sims for expanded rules.
    • Aging up married in sims of a different occult types or your starting sim:
      • Genies - 22 Days to Elder
      • Vampires/Fairies - 65 days to Adult age up twice
      • Werewolves - 26 Days to Elder
      • All others are not impacted. If any of the above occult types are already past that age you must immediately age them up to elder or use one of the age reversal potions should you have one.

Bewitched: (Requires Supernatural EP, -5 point advantage) WITCHES
  • Your founder and all heirs must be Witches.
  • Lifespans are set to 22 days Young Adult, 23 days Adult, 15 days Elder.
    • Aging up married in sims of a different occult type:
      • Genies - 22 Days to Elder
      • Vampires/Fairies - 65 days to Adult age up twice
      • Werewolves - 26 Days to Elder
      • All others are not impacted. If any of the above occult types are already past that age you must immediately age them up to elder or use one of the age reversal potions should you have one.

Call of the Wild: (Requires Supernatural EP, 0 point handicap) WEREWOLVES
  • Your founder and all heirs must be Werewolves.
  • Lifespans are set to 30 days Young Adult, 15 days Adult, 15 days Elder.
    • On the Adult birthday of a Werewolf member of the household, you must immediately use the *birthday cake and age them up to Elder (that is, they effectively go straight from Young Adult to Elder).
    • Aging up married in sims of a different occult type:
      • Genies - 16 Days to Elder
      • Vampires/Fairies - 105 days to Adult age up twice
      • Werewolves - On Adult Birthday age up again after birthday
      • All others are not impacted. If any of the above occult types are already past that age you must immediately age them up to elder or use one of the age reversal potions should you have one.

Clap Your Hands: (Requires Supernatural EP, -5 point advantage) FAIRIES
  • Your founder and all heirs must be Fairies.
  • Lifespans are set to 9 days Young Adult, 36 days Adult, 15 days Elder.
    • On the Adult birthday of a fairy member of the household, you must immediately use the *birthday cake and age them to Elder (that is, they effectively go straight from Young Adult to Elder).
    • Note: EA story progression does not reproduce fairy sims very well. Most in the neighborhood will be gone by generation 3 unless you play with Nraas Story Progression. See Mods page for Nraas SP specific rules.
    • Aging up married in sims of a different occult type:
      • Genies - 45 Days to Elder
      • Vampires/Fairies - On Adult Birthday - age up twice
      • Werewolves - 22 Days to Elder
      • All others are not impacted. If any of the above occult types are already past that age you must immediately age them up to elder or use one of the age reversal potions should you have one.

Forty Thieves: (Requires Supernatural and Showtime EPs, -5 point advantage) GENIES
  • Your founder and all heirs must be Genies.
  • Lifespans are set to 22 days Young Adult, 23 days Adult, 15 days Elder.
    • No more than 24 hours after the Adult birthday of a genie member of the household, you must use the *birthday cake to age them up to Elder (that is, they effectively get only 1 day as an Adult). See Playing Supernatural Sims for rules on Genie Wishes.
    • Aging up married in sims of a different occult type:
      • Genies - 22 Days to Elder
      • Vampires/Fairies - 65 days to Adult age up twice
      • Werewolves - 26 Days to Elder
      • All others are not impacted. If any of the above occult types are already past that age you must immediately age them up to elder or use one of the age reversal potions should you have one.

Ladies and Lords of the Night: (Requires Supernatural EP; 0 point handicap) We also recommend Seasons for parasols. VAMPIRES
  • Your founder and all heirs must be Vampires.
  • Lifespans are set to 9 days Young Adult, 36 days Adult, 15 days Elder.
    • On the Adult birthday of a vampire member of the household, you must immediately use the *birthday cake and age them to Elder (that is, they effectively go straight from Young Adult to Elder).
    • Aging up married in sims of a different occult type:
      • Genies - 45 Days to Elder
      • Vampires/Fairies - On Adult Birthday - age up twice
      • Werewolves - 22 Days to Elder
      • All others are not impacted. If any of the above occult types are already past that age you must immediately age them up to elder or use one of the age reversal potions should you have one.

Loving The Alien: (Requires Seasons EP, 5 points handicap) ALIENS
  • Your founder must be a mundane human; all subsequent heirs must be Aliens.
  • An "Alien", for this purpose, is defined as having the Brain Power motive instead of Energy from the teen age.
  • For a male founder, this means you must get abducted or marry a visiting Alien; for a female founder, you must be impregnated by a visiting Alien (you may marry them, but you need not).
  • Lifespans are set to 22 days Young Adult, 23 days Adult, 15 days Elder.
    • Note: If you choose this option, and you fail to produce an alien heir at any point, you have two choices. If you have no previous heirs, then you may lose the 5 points and switch to Knights of Genetic Purity. If you do have at least one previous alien heir, then you must abandon the handicap and take the advantage Somewhere Over The Rainbow (see below), with an overall -15 points to your score.
    • Aging up married in sims of a different occult type:
      • Genies - 22 Days to Elder
      • Vampires/Fairies - 65 days to Adult age up twice
      • Werewolves - 26 Days to Elder
      • All others are not impacted. If any of the above occult types are already past that age you must immediately age them up to elder or use one of the age reversal potions should you have one.

The Green Revolution: (Requires University Life EP, -5 point advantage) PLANTSIMS
  • Your founder must transform into a Plantsim; all subsequent heirs must be Plantsims.
  • Lifespans are set to 22 days Young Adult, 23 days Adult, 15 days Elder.
  • You may either make this transformation at University; alternatively, if you do not attend University, your founder will be permitted to purchase a Science Research Station to do Gene Splicing experiments on seeds until a forbidden fruit seed is created. This is the only use you make make of the Science Research Station (until it is unlocked normally). Your founder is then permitted to plant the seed and grow a forbidden fruit (be careful to use Tend Garden when picking it up, as otherwise it will turn into a baby). Finally, have your founder eat the fruit to complete the transformation.
  • All your children must be grown from seeds produced by Try For Baby interaction between your heir and his/her partner/donor. You are allowed to have up to 3 gardening pots or rugs or clear 3 squares of dirt within your allowed space on your lot to grow your children even before Naturalist. The Forbidden Fruit must be personally harvested by your heir to count as a legitimate hair or spare.
    • Aging up married in sims of a different occult type:
      • Genies - 22 Days to Elder
      • Vampires/Fairies - 65 days to Adult age up twice
      • Werewolves - 26 Days to Elder
      • All others are not impacted. If any of the above occult types are already past that age you must immediately age them up to elder or use one of the age reversal potions should you have one.

Things That Go Bump: (Requires Supernatural EP, 10 point handicap) GHOSTS
  • Your founder and all heirs must be Ghosts.
  • Lifespans are set to 22 days Young Adult, 23 days Adult, 15 days Elder.
    • Aging up married in sims of a different occult type:
      • Genies - 22 Days to Elder
      • Vampires/Fairies - 65 days to Adult age up twice
      • Werewolves - 26 Days to Elder
      • All others are not impacted. If any of the above occult types are already past that age you must immediately age them up to elder or use one of the age reversal potions should you have one.

The Siren's Call: (Requires Island Paradise, 15 point handicap) MERMAIDS
  • You have to start your game either on a houseboat or a beach lot.
  • Your founder must turn into a Mermaid; all subsequent heirs must be born Mermaids. Founder and heirs must remain Mermaids until they die or you will lose the handicap.
  • Lifespans are set to 22 days Young Adult, 23 days Adult, 15 days Elder
  • In order to become a mermaid you will need to earn enough LTR points (25,000) to purchase Mermadic Kelp since you cannot create a Mermaid in CAS. You can purchase it and eat it as soon as you have enough points. (Hint: you should pick a LTR that you fully intend to meet by the time your founder clears their restriction.) You must be a Mermaid before trying for a baby.
  • There are many specific rules about playing a Mermaid apocalypse. You can find them at Playing Supernatural Sims.
    • Aging up married in sims of a different occult type:
      • Genies - 22 Days to Elder
      • Vampires/Fairies - 65 days to Adult age up twice
      • Werewolves - 26 Days to Elder
      • All others are not impacted. If any of the above occult types are already past that age you must immediately age them up to elder or use one of the age reversal potions should you have one.


*BIRTHDAY CAKE NOTES: In order to adjust lifespans, several occult options must use birthday cake to essentially shorten (genies) or skip (werewolves, vampires, fairies) the Adult stage. You are permitted to purchase birthday cake for this purpose regardless of other restrictions; if you have not yet lifted Culinary, however, you must cancel any queued action to eat the birthday cake.

A HANDY MOD REMINDER: Tired of having to worry about all those complicated aging rules for different kind of occult sims? Confused about having to remember when to age them up with birthday cake and that sort of things? If you are not scared of using mods, we have a perfect solution for you! You are welcome to use a mod (either this one or anything else with the same functionality) for removing multipliers for occult life span, making all Vampires, Fairies, Werewolves and Genies age exactly the same way as all other sims do. In that case you may ignore any specific life span settings and birthday cake aging and enjoy any occult in easy default human style.
